SCADA Lead (Ignition)
As a SCADA Lead, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing SCADA systems and architectures that enable clients to monitor and control industrial processes efficiently. You will also contribute as a SCADA Developer, playing a crucial role in the design and enhancement of SCADA systems, with a focus on Ignition platforms. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Ignition SCADA systems, proficiency in Python scripting and SQL database design, and a deep understanding of SCADA protocols and industry standards. Experience with WonderWare, Cygnet, or Siemens is a plus. You will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and clients to deliver customized solutions that align with business goals and operational requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and architecture of SCADA systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Develop technical specifications and system requirements for new SCADA installations and upgrades.
- Design, develop, and implement SCADA systems using Ignition software, ensuring seamless integration with PLCs and other industrial control systems.
- Translate P&ID’s and PFD’s into intuitive and functional SCADA graphical HMI screens for real-time monitoring and process control.
- Configure Vision and Perspective UIs for optimal user experience and system functionality.
- Configure and manage alarms, develop reports, and use the Ignition API to extend system capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather system requirements, define project scopes, and deliver solutions on time.
- Develop custom HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens using Ignition for real-time monitoring, control, and reporting.
- Configure gateway setups, manage production/backup environments, and ensure effective project management for SCADA implementations.
- Oversee the configuration, integration, and implementation of SCADA solutions across various industry sectors.
- Work hands-on with Ignition platforms, Python scripting, and SQL database design to enhance system functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, IT, and operations, to ensure seamless system deployment.
- Provide technical leadership on SCADA projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SCADA systems, including network communications, hardware, and software components.
- Ensure cybersecurity best practices are implemented in SCADA architecture.
- Design and implement redundancy and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in SCADA system design, architecture, and implementation.
- Expertise in Ignition SCADA systems, with proficiency in Python scripting and SQL database design.
- Ignition Core or Gold Certification is required.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP, DNP3).
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEC 61850, ISA95, ISA99).
- Experience with WonderWare, Cygnet, or Siemens is a plus.
- Experience with database systems and historian software (OSIsoft PI, SQL).
- Strong understanding of network design, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Experience working in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or similar industrial environments is a plus.
